I’m Allister Freeman, a natural, professional Cornwall wedding photographer with many years’ experience of weddings in Cornwall, the UK and Europe.
My photography has led me to work with couples across a variety of cultures and faiths and in all kinds of interesting locations – from the traditional to the downright quirky and everything in between.
There are some breathtaking places in England to photograph, spend a weekend, capture a memory. But none feel quite as much like a holiday abroad as Cornwall.
Where to begin with England’s most southwestern tip? Birthplace of the pasty, home to ice cream so creamy it requires no embellishment.
If you’re chatting with friends about where to host a wedding in Cornwall, each of us will inevitably have our own suggestion of the most beautiful beach or the most secret of secret spots to get married. Arguably, it is the stunning stretch of coastline, the hidden coves and secluded bays that really characterise - Cornwall is a truly beautiful backdrop.

Take a drive down to the north coast where you’ll be surrounded by cliffs towering the seaside resorts that draw surfers and sandcastlers to the region year on year. On the other hand, if you’d rather tie the knot and have your wedding photographer capture you amongst peaceful rolling hills, head to the south side, where a carpet of green greets busy harbour towns and quaint little fishing villages.
Like much of the west country, Cornwall is shrouded in myth, legend and folklore. Everything from Merlin’s Cave to a man-stealing mermaid, there’s a story to be captured around every Cornish cliffside and it really gives wedding photos in this captivating region an extra dynamic. Those with eyes for a rugged coastline and ears for a legendary story will be overwhelmed with tourist hotspot Tintagel, the supposed birthplace of King Arthur.
Tintagel Castle, built on a strip of land that juts out into the Cornish sea traces back to the dark ages in its history as an iconic UK landmark. The view from the headland is unforgettable. Breathe in centuries of history. Maybe also breathe in the smell of a local pasty whilst you do so, for the full Cornish experience.
If you’re looking for a touch of class in your Cornwall wedding photography, then head to Padstow, a now desirable hideaway for Londoners, and the location of (one of) Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant. Aside from the bustling port, you’ll also find stately homes closeby available for wedding hire - Prideaux Place, an Elizabethan deer-roaming manor house and the stunning gardens at Pencarrow house are of note, both boasting timeless class and grandeur.
Whether it's a summer or winter wedding you're planning, Cornwall is a landscape designed as if for the purpose of capturing and documenting a romance. Slip off the wedding shoes and stroll along a sandy expanse of beach, catching the salty sea air whipping through your hair or be photographed making the journey along the famous causeway to St Michaels Mount when the tide is low.
Perhaps you’d always dreamed your wedding photography would have the Mediterranean as a backdrop.. but it just wasn’t feasible! Instead, why not consider tying the knot in the Eden Project - surround your wedding guests with the smell of herbs and citrus as they wander through breathtaking flower beds and hanging grapevines during the champagne reception. They’ll feel as if they’re toasting your happiness in a Greek olive grove, without stepping a foot outside of the UK.
Cornwall continues to draw toes from all over the country to its tides, and it comes as no surprise to anyone who has had the pleasure of spending some real-time here.
Whether you’re looking for your Cornwall wedding photographer to capture west country life or the dramatic and rugged coastline in your images, you’ll want the photos of your wedding to authentically depict Cornwall’s natural beauty.
My natural photographic style means that I’m often described as a ‘reportage wedding photographer’ or ‘documentary wedding photographer’.
In a nutshell, what this means is that my wedding photos discreetly capture your day without me dictating, asking you to pull cheesy 90’s style poses or otherwise play up to the camera. If you have a look through my photographers’ portfolio of previously shot weddings, you’ll better understand the honesty and authenticity you can expect from your collection.
A skilled, natural – style wedding photographer should be in the heart of the action and yet go unnoticed.
