I’m Allister, a professional Somerset wedding photographer with almost two decades of experience, welcome to my Halswell House wedding photography page.
Halswell House is a beautiful grade 1 listed country house located in the rolling foothills of Somerset. The house itself wouldn’t look out of place in a Jane Austin tale, its classic architecture reflecting the delicately restored beauty of the interior rooms.
Halswell House sits in over 100 acres of landscaped parkland that has, at various times, been ranked alongside the best in Europe. It’s a truly stunning country retreat that provides a stylish and classical backdrop to any wedding day.
James and Victoria were married at the beautiful Halswell House on a lovely spring day. Thankfully the April showers held off and the clouds parted later in the day to make for a gorgeous evening.
My favourite thing about Halswell House, similar to Gosfield Hall in Essex, is the light. There is just something about these old country houses that capture our wonderful English spring light and gives us wedding photographers opportunities to create magical images. Then, of course, there are the grounds – which are amazing. We managed to get out for a short walk following the ceremony and take advantage of the beautiful gardens, particularly the view back across the lake to the house. Wonderful.
It was an absolute joy to photography James and Victoria’s wedding and I’ve selected a few of my favourite images to share with you below. This is certainly a wedding to view ‘full screen’ (especially the dancing in the evening) so hit the little arrows and enjoy!
