You wouldn’t ordinarily think of a school for your wedding venue, but Woldingham is no 1960 concrete monstrosity like something out of Grange Hill. Woldingham School mansion is a delightful red brick mansion that lies at the heart of a 700 acres estate in the Surrey countryside.
Woldingham Mansion itself offers several rooms, including a large dining hall, that provides ample room for large weddings.
Elliot and Leah were married at Woldingham School in Surrey on a delightful summer day in August. The weather held out for most of the day and we were able to take advantage of the spacious gardens.
It’s actually quite a challenge to work at Woldingham, within the mansion itself there is not a whole lot of available light, particularly during the evening, but with years of experience shooting in tricky conditions I am able to turn this to my advantage. Low light offers an atmospheric, intimate and natural feel that you just don’t get when working in bright well lit areas and it makes for some great photography.
One thing I remember particularly strongly from this wedding was the golf on the lawn. The boys lined up to land a hole in the one (in an upturned umbrella) and shot after shot flew wide, until one fateful try…
