Wow, what a day, I absolutely loved creating Sonny and Shikha’s Indian wedding photography in Berkshire. I first met Shikha and Sonny in 2008 during Shikha's brother Amit's Hindu wedding at Beaumont House in Windsor. It was really nice to catch up with Amit and Helen and the entire Malhan family after nearly a year.
Shikha & Sonny's wedding was Hindu - Sikh, so we had two wedding ceremonies at either end of the day. It goes without saying that a Hindu wedding alone is a touch on the busy side, so a Hindu - Sikh is in a totally different league - great fun though. I have to admit, I am completely consumed by Asian weddings.
I get wrapped up in the commotion and absorbed by the intimacy of the day; the family and the guests. I'm constantly aware of the potential for genuinely significant images throughout the wedding, in fact, you really need to keep tabs on trigger happy fingers! As a documentary wedding photographer, I have no effect on the proceedings; I usually work completely unnoticed so can produce very honest, reflective and emotive images.
We started off the day with the Sikh ceremony in Slough and then travelled over to Mortimer, near Reading, for the Hindu ceremony at Wokefield Park.
I have a lot of admiration for these two, they both did incredibly well throughout the day despite a couple of major setbacks. Well done.
Amit - thank you for all of your help on the day.
