Despite the weather being typically rainy on the day of Charlotte and Nathan’s wedding, the attitude and atmosphere were bright and cheery! The joy of the day was apparent from the very first moment of the day.
We began the photography journey with Charlotte as she prepared for the occasion. Hair and makeup work was minimal - Charlotte has a true beauty that radiated from her as got ready to meet Nathan at the church.
The church itself was beautiful and photo-worthy. A light brick facade featuring old-school turrets and stunning stained glass windows greeted the gents as they walked from their place of waiting. No sitting around for these guys!
Inside, the cheerful red carpet was perfect to carry the bride down to the altar. Flowers adorned the pews as the guests slowly filled up the space. Spirits were high all round!
Anticipation heightened as the bride arrived. The rain didn’t stop the excitement, and although Charlotte’s father had to escort her inside with an umbrella, she arrived looking radiant and more than ready for the main event!
First to take the journey down the aisle were the bridesmaids, dressed in a rich navy blue that contrasted really nicely with the brightly coloured carpet in the church.
Finally came the moment everyone was waiting for: a stunning Charlotte escorted by her father, carrying a plain but elegant orange and white bouquet. In contrast to many weddings I shoot, Charlotte wore a plain, flowing dress and light embellishments in her hair. Natural beauty.
Waiting at the other end was her groom-to-be, Nathan, looking like a dashing Hugh Jackman! There was no sign of nervousness between bride and groom when they met at the front of the church. If anything, they shared a couple of mischievous smiles, like they knew something the rest of us didn’t!
I don’t think either of them stopped smiling throughout the entire ceremony. As they said their vows, I couldn’t think of a more beautiful spot to become man and wife. The overcast light spilled through the three spectacular stained glass windows at the front of the church, illuminating the couple as their first kiss made it official.
Once the ceremony was finished, I had the chance to capture some intimate photos of the couple in the lovely grounds of the church. The damp weather faded away compared to the bright aura shining from these two!
In the meantime, the guests were bundled onto a red wedding bus to head off to the reception venue, where the new husband and wife joined them after their shoot.
The eclectic Sager + Wilde in Hackney Road was the celebration spot. A little vintage, a little old school, but a lot of character and a lot of fun!
Delectable food, amazing wine, and plenty of love and laughter were the theme of the next few hours. Speeches were said, memories were shared, and of course, the cake was cut. The couple shared their first dance, complete with all the good stuff - intimacy, fun, joy, and a final kiss!
I was privileged to be able to share Charlotte and Nathan’s special day and capture every detail. Their joyful attitudes and love for each other shone through every moment.
